The Art of Living Foundation, through its umbrella organizations, has been carrying out various programs for more than three decades for the social upliftment of the deprived sections of society. Project Udaan is one such path-breaking effort aimed at addressing the problems of the Children (girls) of Sex Workers (CSW) at Sonagachi, Kolkata to save them from falling into the same trap and helping them to get back to the mainstream society for which, the Project proposes to build a Residential School for such children, away from the brothel and helping them to get back to the mainstream of society by providing loving and compassionate care with access to Healthcare, Education, Skills Training, and self-growth and to prevent second-generation girls from being caught in the trap of prostitution and to help their mothers become independent. The project is not of commercial nature but is intended to result in social upliftment of the deprived children of the sex workers by providing them a new environment and bringing them to mainstream and improve their overall living conditions and provide training on fortes of language, science, self-defense, exercises, yoga, breathing techniques and cultural activities which will help them to face the day to day challenges.
